Don’t We All?

21 May

I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car. I had just come
from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work.
Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would
consider a bum.
From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no
money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times
that you just don’t want to be bothered. This was one of those “don’t
want to be bothered times.”
“I hope he doesn’t ask me for any money,” I thought.
He didn’t.
He came and sat on the curb in front of the bus stop but he didn’t look
like he could have enough money to even ride the bus.
After a few minutes he spoke.
“That’s a very pretty car,” he said.
He was ragged but he had an air of dignity around him. His scraggly
blond beard keep more than his face warm.
I said, “thanks,” and continued wiping off my car.

He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea for money never
came.
As the silence between us widened something inside said, “ask him if
he needs any help.” I was sure that he would say “yes” but I held true
to the inner voice.
“Do you need any help?” I asked.
He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget.
We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from
those of higher learning and accomplishments.

I expected nothing but an
outstretched grimy hand. He spoke the three words that shook me.
“Don’t we all?” he said.

I was feeling high and mighty, successful and important, above a bum
in the street, until those three words hit me like a twelve gauge
shotgun.
Don’t we all?
I needed help. Maybe not for bus fare or a place to sleep, but I
needed help. I reached in my wallet and gave him not only enough for bus
fare, but enough to get a warm meal and shelter for the day. Those
three little words still ring true. No matter how much you have, no matter
how much you have accomplished, you need help too. No matter how little you
have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or
a place to sleep, you can give help.

Even if it’s just a compliment, you can give that.
You never know when you may see someone that appears to have it all.
They are waiting on you to give them what they don’t have. A different
perspective on life, a glimpse at something beautiful, a respite from
daily chaos, that only you through a torn world can see.
Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets. Maybe
he was more than that.

Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and
wise, to minister to a soul too comfortable in themselves.

Maybe God looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a bum, then said, “go minister to that man cleaning the car, that man needs help.”
Don’t we all?

Help Me

21 May

I’m the man on the street holding a sign,

I know what it says but look in my eyes,

I need more than money.

I am the single mother of three,

I know how it looks but please don’t condemn me,

I need you to reach me.

Will you pray for me, will you speak to me, be moved by compassion for me.

Help me I’m falling, does anybody hear me calling out,

I’m calling out for help,

I’m in too deep to save myself alright,

Save myself oh I need someone to help me.

I’m the lawyer you met in the coffee shop,

I know I seem fine but really I’m not,

My life is crashing.

I’m the city you drive through on your way to work,

Can’t you hear my streets crying full of pain and hurt,

Send me a preacher.

Will you reach to me, please preach to me, there’s not much time!

Help me I’m falling, does anybody hear me calling out,

I’m calling out for help,

I’m in too deep to save myself alright,

Save myself oh I need someone to help me.

Will you pray for me, intercede for me,

Reach down to me, be God’s hand for me,

Preach it straight to me, show God’s word to me,

Fight hell for me, save my sinning streets,

We need a hero!

Help me I’m falling, does anybody hear me calling out,

I’m calling out for help,

I’m in too deep to save myself alright,

Save myself oh I need someone to help me,

Someone to pray for me, someone to reach for me.

Help me I’m falling, does anybody hear me calling out,

I’m calling out for help.

Like I just cry when I hear this song. It is such a sobering song, makes you really think of how selfish we are. We know what God has brought us out of, knowing what others are going through and we dont even take the time to reach out, and help them out of their sin….imagine if no one wouldve reached out to you, where would you be today, would you even be alive? Food for thought, for sure. How can we “hide” Jesus from the world!!? We need to get a boldness like never before and “Help someone” they are crying out to use, but we need to take the time slow down, and give someone else the opportunity you have been given! Quit keeping Him all to yourself, or worse, quit letting your “testimony” go unused, because today could be the day you make a difference in someone’s life, you may be their last hope.

Just a Head’s Up

21 May

So this is just to let you know, that tomorrow I will be taking a journey from before I was born. Then from there we will slowly walk through my life, with a few random blogs here and there. That is, so you dont get bored..lol.. I look forward to hearing your feedback, comments, or question. I am not only doing this for others to see my life in my eyes, but for me to be able to express myself in a way I never have. Its basically my TESTimony! God has really turned my life around, but it was all because I CHOSE to let Him! Even though I must admit now, that wasnt always the case. Well anywho, I won’t keep you. Tomorrow ,let the journey begin!

It’s So Simple

21 May

Something as simple as “Life is what you make” can have such a change on the outcome of your future, the outlook on your past and what happens to you in the present!

The Beggar Gives His All

21 May

All Before India gained independence, a few young men from the villages wanted to free India from the foreign yoke; they wanted the British to quit India. They needed material wealth to throw the British out of India, so they started collecting money in the Indian villages.
One day, they got inspired to collect material things as well. They went from door to door carrying a huge bag, which gradually was filled with money and gifts. As they went, a one-legged beggar kept following them. The young men did not mind.
At the end of the day, they entered into a house to see what they had collected. The beggar also wanted to enter, but since he was not a member of the group, they did not allow him in. The beggar pleaded with them: “I walked such a long distance right behind you. You want freedom; I also want freedom. Our Motherland is not only your property. It is also my property.”
At first, the young men got mad and told the beggar to go away. Then one of the men felt sorry for him, so they decided to show him the things they had collected. While the beggar was looking at the gifts in their bag, most of them were showing him real contempt. Then suddenly the beggar opened up the bag that he had been carrying. It contained a few coins and some rice. He spontaneously threw all the contents into their bag.
Immediately all the members of the revolutionary group started shedding tears of gratitude, because he had given all that he had to their cause. On that day, they had gone to visit so many rich families, who had given them next to nothing; but this beggar had given them everything that he had! They were deeply moved by the beggar’s contribution.

Called, and Chosen

21 May

Many are called, but few are choosen. Matthew 22:14 I believe that the “choosen” part means, that Jesus gave us that “choice” to make.To live for Him or not. Everything we do takes a choice. How we feel, how we let people make us feel, whether we forgive, how we react, whether we hold a grudge, we have that choice, to smile and be happy in those times we when we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.
And you know we may not always understand why we are put in the situations we are put in, or why bad things happen to good people, but they do, the key to over coming those situations, is staying true to Jesus, because I know from personal experience. That even though my life has not been a “bed of roses” I can’t even imagine how much harder it would have been if it were not for Jesus. And you know what, all the pain, and heartache I have been through in my life I know that I never went through it alone, and that in and of it self gives me peace. Knowing that Jesus Christ who suffered, was crucfied for MY sins, died, and rose again for ME, was willing to take on all my sins and the sins of the world, that I may beable to have a second chance. Why wouldnt I vow to give my entire life to Him!? I dont know if this has ever happen to you or not but if so than you can relate, Have you ever been “accused” of something you didnt do!? How did that make you feel!? Enraged, mad, helpless, defensive, didnt you want to protect your name, defend your self to the point to where people believed you?! Because even though you knew in your heart, what they was accusing you of wasnt true…well imagine, what love a person must have for you, to take on all YOUR sins as His own, and pay the price that YOU shouldve paid…and if that my friend was the only reason I had to live for Jesus…well that would be enough.
